Individual ratings for Castell Son Claret

Location
Embedded in a sumptuous garden complex in the hinterland of Calvià in the western part of Mallorca. The glamorous port towns of Puerto Portals and Puerto de Andratx are 20 minutes away by car.
Ambience
A subtle blend of tradition and modernity.
Infrastructure
2 restaurants, a bar, a sprawling garden complex including pool and poolside bar, a spa complete with indoor pool, steam room and treatment rooms, a gym, a tennis court, complimentary use of bicycles, and a 7.2 km trail for running, cycling or walking.
Culinary
The "Olivera" restaurant serves a well-diversified breakfast buffet including à la carte egg dishes, and aspirational Mediterranean cuisine later in the day. Grand culinary craftsmanship using regional produce at the "Zaranda" restaurant, which holds 2 Michelin stars. Dishes we will never forget include the black poached egg with squid ink caviar and eel from Sa Pobla, served in two courses, first wrapped in cabbage leaves as finger food, then smoked in a clay pot and served with peas.
Rooms
38 spacious, classic-modern rooms and suites. All rooms are done in earthy colours, and feature magnificent beds with pocket spring mattresses, large walk-in showers and Nespresso coffee machines. Bathrooms are stocked with the organic cosmetics of the "REN" skincare line made in London.
Service
Warm, competent staff who treat even special requests as nothing more than a challenge and live up to it with ease. Nothing would overtax this team.

Castell Son Claret Hotel, Es Capdellá

This place will start amazing you before you even get there – with its palm tree avenue leading up to the castle, and a view of the lush Moorish garden with its almond, olive and orange trees opening up on either side of the driveway. A scent of jasmine, bergamot, oranges and roses is in the air. The luxury hotel in south-west Mallorca is named after Don Gabriel Claret who chose the castle as his manor in the 18th century. The estate's new owner, Klaus-Michael Kühne, redeveloped it at great cost into a resort with spa, tennis court and two restaurants. The "Zaranda" gourmet restaurant is the latest culinary hot spot on Mallorca. Chef Fernando Pérez Arellano was awarded with two Michelin stars. So you are well advised to book not only your accommodation at the manor far in advance, but a seat at the chef's table as well. The long table is built right into the chef's counter. It grants you a sweeping view of the kitchen, and lets you watch Fernando Pérez Arellano and his team prepare each dish. Clearly a "must do" for amateur chefs and gourmets.

This is the prettiest hotel garden anywhere on Mallorca! The expansive estate (132 hectares) with its stands of old-growth forest and fragrant jasmine and rose bushes is a genuine treat for the senses. The garden's lush corners and retreats are actually more numerous than the rooms at the hotel, and it won't be long before you find your favourite spot.
Secluded. The nearest town – Es Capdellà – is small and straightforward, offering little that would tempt you to leave this magnificent resort.
