Individual ratings for La Paloma

Location
Located inland, in the inconspicuous village of Sant Llorenç de Balafia. If it wasn't for the large meadow turned into a parking lot close to the school, you might just drive past and miss La Paloma altogether.
Ambience
Viva azzurro! The rustic wooden tables, benches and chairs are painted azure blue, the walls are adorned with butterflies and flowers and the tables are prettily set with vintage porcelain and a colourful variety of cloth napkins. A rather successful atmosphere of boho hippie chic.
Infrastructure
This maze-like restaurant consists of a variety of rooms, a bar, a roofed-in patio and a large and deliciously scented garden with lemon trees.
Culinary
The short menu of fine fare changes on a weekly basis and is billed on a slate. The vegetables come from the restaurant's own garden, the mozzarella from an Italian farmer on Ibiza, bread and focaccia are baked on the premises. Prauna's savoury dishes are quite addictive.
Wine List
The short wine list concentrates on Spanish and Italian grapes, including a few exciting new discoveries. We had a Cap de Barbaria, 2009, from Formentera. A hefty wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Monastrell and Fogoneu grapes.
Service
Cordial, swift and relaxed without ever cutting corners.

La Paloma Restaurant, Sant Joan de Labritja

Everybody seems to congregate at the La Paloma: Locals, newly-arrived mansion owners, the party crowd and day-trippers from the beach. This is unsurprising insofar as the Italian-Israeli owners turned an inconspicuous white finca into a heavenly azure-blue place with a great love of detail. The kitchen is staffed by Prasuna, mother of Mouji. The secret of her cuisine is fresh local ingredients which she turns into delicious Mediterranean dishes. It was here that we ate the best "Melanzane alla parmigiana" ever. At lunchtime, the Paloma Café serves exquisite salads and vegetarian dishes. Be sure to try Prasuna's hummus. Open daily: the café only during the lunch hours, the restaurant evenings only.
Price range €€
The garden is magnificent with its dense growth of lemon trees and shrubs, and its refreshingly cheerful atmosphere. A trendy place for playing the voyeur and eating well at the same time. This is Ibiza as we know and like it.
Trying your luck here at night is absolutely pointless, be sure to book a table well in advance.
