Individual ratings for The Dolder Grand

Location
Embedded between golf course and forest, and just a 6-minute drive from the town centre, lies the resort on top of Zürichberg.
Ambience
An urban palace. The puristic new annex wraps itself like a scarf around the listed main building with its bay windows and turrets. Historic marble columns combine with onyx and glass, opulent coffered ceilings contrast with Bisazza mosaics—an accomplished balancing act between tradition and modernity.
Infrastructure
1 restaurants, a bar, a spa extending over 4,000 sqm including a unique 25-metre indoor pool, a sauna landscape, treatment rooms, a spa shop, a library, a café, and a large gym filled with natural light.
Culinary
There is currently no other chef in Zurich who cooks more imaginatively than Heiko Nieder at "The Restaurant." In the years since 2010, his avant-gardist cuisine was honoured with 2 Michelin stars. Modern interpretations of Swiss dishes, and ambitious cosmopolitan cuisine are served at the “Saltz” restaurant, and an opulent brunch on Sundays.
Rooms
174 as-new luxurious rooms and suites are spread across the historic main building and the new annexes—one called the “Spa Wing,” the other the “Golf Wing.” 6 listed rooms have been restored true to historic detail—each of them a unique artefact with historicising ambience.
Service
Die Mitarbeiter agieren freundlich, professionell und zuvorkommend, ohne dabei gedrillt zu wirken.

The Dolder Grand Hotel, Zürich

High above Zurich – overlooking city, lake and golf course – resides the “Grande Dame” of Swiss luxury hospitality. The Dolder Grand got not just a face lift but was structurally altered and refurbished at tremendous cost by the renowned London-based architect, Sir Norman Foster. He combined the historic main building, raised in 1899, with the latest achievements in modern architecture. Two new annexes now complement the fully restored main building and effortlessly bridge the gap between history and modern zeitgeist. While the building envelope is impressive in its own right, the interior of the imposing structure is just as amazing with its lofty and generously designed rooms. More than 100 famous artworks by Salvador Dali, Ferdinand Hodler, Joan Miró, Camille Pissarro, and Andy Warhol, among many others, create a vibrant atmosphere and fire the guest's imagination. Perhaps the most conspicuous piece, Warhol's "Big Retrospective Painting", eleven metres wide, looms above the reception desk, and suggests to guests checking in: This is not your run-of-the-mill accommodation, and you are not just another guest.

The spa area counts among the finest of its kind in Swiss hospitality. Lounging in a “Sunaburo” tub designed specifically for the Dolder Grand—and filled with small black, heated pebbles—will make you feel like on the beach. It is a favoured spot that simply makes you want to stay all day.
Das Spa ist auch für externe Gäste zugänglich, was sich an verregneten Wochenenden negativ auswirken kann.
