Individual ratings for The Chedi Andermatt

Location
Just behind the railway station in the mountain hamlet of Andermatt.
Ambience
Urban and glamorous and yet so comfortably rustic with its countless wooden elements. The Chedi (meaning the temple) makes us feel as if we were in NYC rather than in Andermatt.
Infrastructure
4 restaurants with an impressive cheese cave, a bar, a huge lobby featuring many alcoves, retreats and fireplaces, The Wine & Cigar Library with walk-in humidor, a ski lounge, a 2400-sqm spa with two indoor pools, a spacious naturally-lit gym and lounge, and an 18-hole golf course complete with dedicated restaurant, "The Clubhouse."
Culinary
At "The Restaurant," guests get to watch as Western and Asian dishes with a modern spin are being cooked in any of the four open-theatre kitchens both in the morning and at dinner time. The breakfast menu is overwhelming! At the "Japanese Restaurant," be sure to sit at the tempura counter to get to watch the masterful Japanese chefs as they prepare their delicacies. During the winter months, traditional cheese specialities are available at "The Chalet."
Rooms
The 123 spacious rooms and suites decorated in alpine elegance are divided among 4 chalets. Dark wooden floors, soft leather arm chairs, marvellous beds, panoramic windows, balcony, and a fireplace in every room. Bathrooms feature large free-standing tubs and separate rain showers. They are stocked in Acqua di Parma bath amenities, and there are snugly bathrobes by Ploh to wrap yourself in. The variable bathroom doors give you the choice of either closing them for privacy or leaving them open so as to make the room seem larger.
Service
The highly professional staff will fill any request you may have, with everyone from receptionist to spa therapist, to ski butler placing great emphasis on personal customer care.

The Chedi Andermatt Hotel, Andermatt

The Chedi Andermatt is the first resort the GHM Luxury Hotel Group operates in the German speaking countries. The hotel's eclectic design was created by celebrated architect Jean-Michel Gathy from Kuala Lumpur who combined Alpine chic with elegant Balinese elements. Especially the rooms and suites are testimony to a passion for the outdoors and for a love of detail: natural materials from the region and panoramic windows will give you a first-hand experience of Andermatt's mountain landscape, augmented by the tall rooms (with their floor-to-ceiling height of 4 metres). Use the iPad to control lights, window shades, TV and music, to set the room temperature, to light the fire in the fireplace and – if you must – to check your e-mails. Guests will love the 2,400-sqm spa featuring an exclusive sauna landscape, thermal baths and a 35-metre indoor pool with eight fireplaces and a huge panoramic window overlooking the lobby. A stylish retreat for hedonists and those who believe they've seen it all.

Price range €€€
Each room has its own fireplace! The Chedi Andermatt features more than 200 fireplaces, one in each room and eight for the indoor pool. You have to see it to believe it.
The infrastructure outside the resort could yet be improved, as there is a lack of designer boutiques, fancy ski lodges and culinary hot spots off the premises. Andermatt currently presents itself as a mountain hamlet with many construction sites and grand ambitions.
