Individual ratings for Old Swiss House
Just a short walk from the famous lion monument that commemorates in the allegory of a dying lion the Swiss guards who died during the raid on the Tuileries in Paris in 1792. In one of his books, Mark Twain labelled it the "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."
Museum-like and nostalgic – there are antiques wherever you look, from the Kaiser tile stove from the 18th century, to Meissen china, and all the way to Old Sheffield silver.
The restaurant divides into two rooms on the ground floor, with banquet halls available on the upper floor, and the cosy rose garden being perfect for taking an aperitif.
The deluxe edition of bourgeois dining. Be sure to bring a big appetite, and to order a wienerschnitzel or a poached fillet of turbot on champagne sauce.
The wine cellar holds more then 30,000 bottles of choice vintages, primarily from Bordeaux. A rarity is the uninterrupted stock of Mouton-Rothschild of all vintages since 1867.
Marked by silent perfection: personal, cordial, and attentive.

The ancient walls have many a tale to tell. However, it pays to focus on the good food in this tradition-steeped inn, which truly lives up to its name.
No longer an insider tip, as even Asians love their wienerschnitzel these days.
