Huus Gstaad Hotel, Saanen

It’s all in the name: The hotel’s name “Huus” means “house” or “home” and it won’t take you long to get comfortable here. Rather, you will instantly feel at home. This is explained, on the one hand, by the fact that you enter the 4-star-superior hotel through a cosy chalet with an open lounge, the “Living Room”. On the other hand, you will simply not want to leave again after having been in the care of Mirka Czybik and her hand-picked team who run the Huus with infinite warmth, dedication and attention. The Huus' interior is dominated by the copious use of wood and other natural materials. Outside, ski slopes, cross-country and hiking trails await you in the wintertime, while things to do in the summertime include river rafting, canyoning, mountain biking and Nordic walking. Upon your return to the hotel late in the afternoon, there is a relaxing spa to tempt you or the “Living Room” – the perfect place for a cup of tea over a good book or a nice chat. Bookworms will love the library with its more than 500 titles that include cookbooks and travel guides, coffee table books and Alpine classics, Petrarch’s philosophical musings about Mont Ventoux and Dante's Divine Comedy – whatever you fancy, you will surely find just the right tome to end an adventurous day in the mountains on a quiet note.

The unique hotel design by Stylt Trampoli AB, a Swedish group of architects, is very impressive, and so is the innovative concept of “included activities” that encourages guests to explore the grand outdoors around Gstaad. Options include river rafting, canyoning, mountain climbing or snowshoeing – something for everyone.
The parking garage's ceiling is rather low and will not accommodate off-road vehicles or mini vans. Take the convertible to be on the safe side.
