Ambience
As something of a total art work, Teufelhof will amaze anyone: Theatre-goers will inevitably become aware of fine culinary culture and the fine arts, whereas gourmets cannot but take note of the references to plays, shows, and art all around them.
Infrastructure
2 restaurants, one bar, and an in-house theatre – all under one and the same roof.
Culinary
Classic cuisine in the gourmet restaurant "Bel Etage" with its single Michelin star, or casual dining at the "Atelier" restaurant with its focus on Swiss specialities.
Rooms
33 highly original rooms spread across two buildings: the "Kunsthotel" and the "Galeriehotel." We prefer the nine art rooms refurbished in 2015 – inhabitable works of art.

Der Teufelhof Hotel, Basel

The Teufelhof hotel was one of the world's first art hotels. For 25 years now, it has consistently implemented the idea of having its guests live among the artefacts instead of just placing the odd piece of art in their rooms. The three-star hotel consists of two buildings, both embedded in Basel's historic city walls, which date back to the 11th and 13th century. The cultural program of Teufelhof includes a theatre of classically playful design and a variety of artwork inside and outside the building. It is an absolutely accomplished blend of hotel, gastronomy, theatre, and cultural venue. Teufelhof has long been a gathering place for artists, theatregoers, aesthetes and anyone ready for an alternative way of staying the night in downtown Basel.
Price range €
An accomplished, refreshing mix of art platform and hotel.
The plain rooms of the "Galeriehotel," while still in fairly good shape, cannot quite keep up with the new art rooms.
