Location
The Aman Venice is located directly next to the Canal Grande in the historic quarter of San Polo, embedded in a lush private garden. The famous Rialto Bridge is a 5-minute walk away.
Ambience
Magnificent ceiling paintings by Tiepolo, renaissance hearths by Sansovino, and listed frescoes lend a majestic elegance to the rooms. The stark modern furnishings bridge the gap between past and present styles in exciting ways.
Infrastructure
An Italian restaurant, a bar lounge, a library, several parlours, a small spa including 3 treatment rooms and a gym, a roof terrace, a garden with old-growth trees, and a private dock on Canal Grande.
Culinary
A rich breakfast is served at the table. Creative, fragrant soul food cuisine, served in any of three stately parlours on the “piano nobile.” On sunny days, you may dine outside in the picturesque garden.

24 genteel suites in historic rooms with modern furnishings. Many of them feature listed frescoes and reliefs that reflect the art and architecture of bygone times. Nearly all suites command a marvellous view of Canal Grande – which is a very rare thing in Venice.
Service
Unobtrusively efficient, friendly and solicitous.

Aman Canal Grande Hotel, Venezia

You don’t have to be a member of the aristocracy to lodge at the magnificent Palazzo Papadopoli, built in the 16th century. Three floors are operated as a hotel, while the top floor is occupied by its owner, Count Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga. In a city of canals, the best way to arrive is, of course, by boat. The private dock where you disembark will take you straight into the vast reception. With its floor-to-ceiling height of several metres, ancient frescoes and reliefs, it is an appropriate entrée to the stately atmosphere of the palazzo. A curved stairway takes you up to the “piano nobile” or “noble floor” where the dining room is located that actually spreads across three rooms. The main room is gilded, richly ornamented in frescoes, and decorated with mirrors. The yellow salon and red salon next door offer a lovely view of the Grand Canal and of the garden. The two rooms, named after their colour scheme, feature ceilings painted by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, one of the city’s most celebrated 18th century artists. An grandiose lounge welcomes you on the second floor. During the summer months, it is always tempting to spend your time outdoors and on the very private roof terrace. Perfect for those who do not own a palazzo of their own in Venice but would love to experience what it would be like.
Price range €€€
At Palazzo Papadopoli, frescoes by Tiepolo line the ceilings like beads on a string. We found our favourite spot in the library with its leather-clad walls and its panoramic windows overlooking the Grand Canal. Browsing through the historic book collection of Count Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga is a great way to recover from your forays into the city, and the ambience of the place alone will have a pleasant effect on you.
If we absolutely had to identify a shortcoming, it would be the absence of a pool. In the summertime, you may feel that the option to do a few laps in the outdoor pool would be just the thing.
