Individual ratings for Io Osteria Personale

Location
Located in the trendy quarter of "San Frediano" on the left bank of the Arno.
Ambience
Minimalist design with a Nordic touch – plenty of wood, rare materials, and a warm lighting concept created an accomplished ambience of well-being.
Infrastructure
Small tube-like dining room with tight bistro seating. You dine at wooden tables with brown-white chequered cloth napkins and fancy wine glasses.
Culinary
Traditional tastes reinterpreted in exciting ways! At the kitchen's helm is the gifted chef Nicolò Baretti who learned his trade under Valeria Piccini at the renowned "Da Caino" in Montemerano, among other places. For us, it has all the makings of star-rated cuisine. 4-course dinner, à la carte, together €40.
Wine List
Well-structured and well-appointed wine list of 200 vintages, including many small, relatively unknown wineries.
Service
Attentive, genial, and competent. Host Matteo Fantini will patiently elaborate on each oeuvre even if the place is packed.

Io Osteria Personale Restaurant, Firenze

The trend toward so-called "bistronomy" has reached Florence, too. The authentic creative cuisine we have come to love in Paris is also available in Florence's trendy quarter of "San Frediano" with no loss in authenticity. Having taken our seats at the minimalistically laid wooden tables with their brown-white chequered napkins, we start studying the promising sketches of the various dishes and their components on the slate plates along the stone walls. We ordered the following starters: beef tartare on burrata, served with anchovy fillets, followed by the classic dish "melanzane alla parmigiana" as layers stacked in a glass –starting with basil granita, a layer of buffalo mozzarella next, then an eggplant-tomato confit, and a fluffy parmigiana froth on top. As entrée, we chose the soft-as-butter polpo on grilled watermelon, accompanied by a refreshing lime rocket salad. We concluded with warm chocolate olive oil cream over crumble, cubes of passion fruit, and lavender granita. Each course was a delicacy fit for kings, here at our new exploit in Florence. Closed on: Sundays and during lunch time every day
Price range
A modern osteria with an excitingly creative cuisine! The memory alone of the tender octopus on grilled watermelon is mouth-watering.
On summer nights, the dining room is air-conditioned to the point of chilliness. It makes you feel as if you were in New York rather than in Florence.
