Four Seasons George V Hotel, Paris

A posh base camp for bonvivants and the fabulously-well-to-do: the noble George V on the eponymous avenue in the 8th Arrondissement. Built in 1928, this grand hotel is an ensemble of neo-classicist and art deco elements, and a showpiece for contemporary classic comfort and Parisian elegance. The hotel is owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal. He redid the hotel by taking out 100 rooms (and enlarging the remaining rooms in the process) and hired the Canadian hotel chain Four Seasons to operate the hotel. The interior is welcoming and true to style, the spa pleasantly recreational, the beds so comfortable that you wish to take them home. Which is actually an option – you can order them along with the bed linen and pillows for your bedroom back home. Do contact the Pillow\_&\_Pepper editors in case you are interested.

A dream for any lover of flowers: No other hotel in Paris decks itself out in floral arrangements with such finesse as the George V – a sea of flowers far as the eye can see. Every week, 9000 fresh cut flowers are delivered from the Netherlands, and artfully arranged.
While it is true that your money will buy unparalleled splendour here, it is equally true that the George V is the most expensive place to stay in Paris.
