Individual ratings for Maison 9

Location
Very scenic setting inside a terraced garden with stands of old-growth trees, right next to the vineyards. A 15-minute walk will take you to the town centre and the beach of the picturesque seaside community of Cassis.
Ambience
All rooms are harmoniously decorated in a modern country-cottage style and show the signature touch of interior designer and proprietress Cynthia Kayser-Maus.
Infrastructure
Combination living-dining room with open-plan kitchen, well-groomed garden with large pool, Pétanque court, and lush retreats.
Culinary
Splendid breakfast with home-made Bircher muesli, fresh-squeezed orange juice and egg dishes prepared on demand. There is no restaurant at the house, but why not just pick up some salad, goat cheese and fresh-baked baguette and fix a light lunch in your summer kitchen? Wednesdays and Fridays, there is a farmer's market in Cassis.
Rooms
4 spacious country-cottage suites, furnished with lavish attention to detail. All suites feature superb beds (pocket spring mattresses by Meridiani), private patios and elegant kitchenettes complete with Nespresso coffee machines, tea kettles and refrigerators.
Service
Cordial, personal, attentive, though not always on hand the way you might be used to from a hotel.

Maison 9 Hotel, Cassis

The perfect destination for sophisticates! In 2007, interior designer Cynthia Kayser-Maus from Hamburg acquired this 300-year-old wine estate in Cassis. She completely overhauled the old country manor, turning it into a luxurious Bed & Breakfast of just four suites and with a vast garden. The scent of lavender and rosemary is in the air everywhere you go. As you lose yourself in the lush verdure, the only sounds you hear are chirping crickets and the faint murmur of the fountain. The interior features country-cottage style furniture, coarse linen curtains, shabby-chic lamps and stacks of coffee-table books. The genial warmth of Madame Kayser-Maus is nicely complemented by her frolicsome French bulldogs, Fleur and Louis, creating a feel-good ambience that will give you an instant sense of being in good hands. Breakfast is served under an ancient maple tree. Things that might tempt you after breakfast include a game of Boule at the Pétanque court, the pool with its view of Cap Canaille, the highest cliff in France, or the beaches of Cassis. Minimum stay: 2 nights
Price range
We just love the large pool with its gorgeous view of Cap Canaille, the highest cliffs anywhere in France.
With a bit of luck, you may be able to book a room on short notice. Then again, making reservations for next summer in December is always a good idea.
