Individual ratings for Domaine du Mas de Pierre

Location
Located below Saint-Paul de Vence, quiet and bucolic in an expansive garden estate of 3 hectares, 5 km from the seashore, and 10 km from Nice Airport.
Ambience
This is the posh side of Provence! Everything is arranged in impeccable style, as if the photographers for an interior design magazine were waiting in the wings.
Infrastructure
2 restaurants, a bar, 2 heated outdoor pools, a hot tub, a small spa with steam room, sauna, treatment rooms, and a gym.
Culinary
Creative mediterranean cuisine at the gourmet restaurant "La Table de Pierre." The young chef, Emmanuel Lehrer, is quite ambitious, as he succeeds marvellously in combining the ingredients of Provence into authentic, seasonal dished inspired by the land and the sea. It is definitely worthwhile to dine at the hotel!
Rooms
54 rooms and suites spread across 7 "Mas" – the Provençal term for "maison" or "house" – are grouped around the large pool. The rooms, favouring a "shabby chic" style, are done in one of three hues: sunflower yellow, lavender blue, and terracotta. All rooms come with private garden terrace or separate balcony. The new junior suites and "Prestige" suites have modern furnishings, and feature dedicated pools, butler service, customised mini-bars, Nespresso coffee makers, and iPads. Complimentary WiFi.
Service
Very personal, solicitous, and friendly.

Domaine du Mas de Pierre Hotel, Saint-Paul-de-Vence

The scenery around Saint-Paul de Vence could have been taken out of a painting by Henri Matisse. Of course, it is actually the other way around, as Matisse was inspired by the landscape when he came here in 1941. Works by Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Vassily Kandinsky, and other 20th-century artists of renown may be admired in the gallery of the Fondation Maeght. In 2014, yet another attraction was added to the artist community of Saint-Paul de Vence – the pretty country hotel Le Mas de Pierre just opened a house of suites that offers personalised service, and will satisfy just about any desire you can name. There is a natural air of harmony hanging over the carefully groomed estate. The tastefully decorated rooms are available in two different styles: either in "shabby chic" or in pastel-hued contemporary design. The extensive garden with its old-growth olive, orange, and fig trees, its cypress lane, its orchid hothouse, and its many sculptures is the perfect retreat for romantics with a love for detail and refined aesthetics.

The breakfast buffet is excellent in every way – from arrangement, to variety, and all the way to product quality. This would be unique anywhere, but all the more so here in the South of France, where breakfast plays a lesser role than north of the Alps.
The pretty pool tends to be commandeered by children on summer days. So if you want to swim a few quiet laps, you are well advised to get an early start.
