Individual ratings for Käfer-Schänke

Location
In the district of Bogenhausen, close to the Maximiliansanlagen park.
Ambience
Cosmopolitan atmosphere and a popular hangout of Munich's chi-chi scene.
Infrastructure
The bright rooms of the restaurant are located right above the delicatessen, and are market by the open access to the kitchen and the imperceptible transition into the lounge area. There are 12 elegant rooms that may be rented for private occasions in an intimate atmosphere.
Culinary
"The product is the star," reads the maxim of the venue's cuisine. Its quality and imaginative presentation ensures indeed that the product takes the lead. The new menu combines the Bavarian culinary cuisine with French influences. Naturally, the Käfer classics, such as the lobster stew, duck, and wienerschnitzel, are still on the menu and always will be.
Wine List
Well appointed wine menu with a fine collection of Bordeaux. There are quite a number German vintages in the lot as well.
Service
Silent perfection; the staff moves nimbly about, satisfying any desire the guests may have. Well-timed breaks between courses.

Käfer-Schänke Restaurant, München

The renovation has finally been accomplished! Since fall of 2013, the original company headquarters of the Käfer culinary empire has donned a more contemporary look: brighter, fresher and more up-to-date. An elegant hue of grey is the dominating colour, discretely accentuated by silver-green and Käfer's signature red. The fireplace and the open lounge create a pleasant cosiness in the vast restaurant interior. Modern artwork on the walls lends an urban touch to the tradition-steeped premises. The centre piece, however, is the open kitchen area – an appetising blend of local cuisine and the city's farmers' market, Viktualienmarkt. Wicker baskets containing seasonal produce and fresh herbs serve as verdant decoration, and encourage a dialogue between kitchen and guests. Closed on: Sundays
Price range €€
Be sure to inspect the sumptuous display outside the open kitchen, and let yourself be tempted to try something different. We dared to order a new dish rather than sticking with the proven Käfer classics. The braised turbot with puréed almonds and sautéed pumpkin were a revelation.
On private occasions, an Italian band will sometimes set up and raise both spirits and noise level in the place.
