The Es Pati is representative of a recent Mallorquinian trend that has seen many young and well-trained chefs open their own restaurants to offer a creative and reasonably priced market cuisine. One of them is Felix Trappe, a native of northern Germany, who headed the "Bacchus" restaurant at Mallorca's luxury hotel Reads until 2011. Having decided to go it alone, he is now at the helm of Es Pati's tiny kitchen. His menu is defined by creativity and a commitment to basics. You eat whatever is served to you. Instead of a menu of many choices, you get a high-quality, five-course surprise dinner. For us, it is an insider tip on the east coast of the island, and we keep coming back. Superb cuisine at an excellent price! Says Felix Trappe: "What I cook is what I like to eat." We certainly share his taste, to say the least!

The atmosphere is informal and cheerful to the point of rambunctiousness. Be prepared to spend some time waiting.
