Removed from the main tourist routes, the Palazzo Morosini degli Spezieri is located by the side of a lateral canal in the historic quarter of San Polo, which is the smallest of the six “sestieri” (“six districts”) of Venice.

Although you will look in vain for a restaurant, spa or room numbers, you will find nine spacious apartments decorated in a sure sense of style and bearing the resonant names of spices such as “Coriandolo,” “Ginepro” and “Zenzero” – paying homage to the colonial age and the spice route. The newly refurbished Palazzo Morosini degli Spezieri from the 15th century lies next to an a narrow lateral canal, set back from the “Campo San Polo”, and is as authentic as its surroundings. Instead of luxury and opulent decoration, each apartment simply offers plenty of space and modern amenities – and a well-kept garden overlooking the small canal as a good place to spend time during the warm time of year. The apartments are airy and stylishly furnished with Italian designer pieces and Murano lights, while the state-of-the-art bathrooms and kitchens are very tastefully done, everything being in perfect working order. This is a very stylish temporary home for those of us who need some extra space to spread out.

Excellent value-for-money ratio, considering that much of Venice is so overpriced. Here, settling your hotel bill will not ruin your holiday.
