Individual ratings for Villa La Madonna
The hotel is located on a hilltop, right next to the proprietary vineyard. The travel time to Acqui Terme is 15 minutes by car, and just under an hour to Alba.
The creative and international flair you will find here is matched by the personalities of the guests who will trade restaurant tips with you while nursing a Negroni on the patio during the blue hour.
Restaurant, bar, wine cellar for tastings and private dinners, pool, yoga room, boccia pitch, ping-pong table, and complimentary bicycles
Small, well-appointed breakfast buffet that includes Bircher muesli and fluffy pancakes. Well-prepared specialities from the Piedmont are served in the restaurant at lunch and dinner time. A large selection of wines from the Langhe region is available, with 500 items on the wine list.
Each of the 18 rooms has a different interior but all follow a clear design concept: It is inspired by Nordic starkness and by Piedmontese influences. The rooms are located either in the villa or in the outbuilding by the pool. All of them come with a balcony or have access to a patio. Nothing will block the splendid view here.
Villa La Madonna Hotel, Monastero Bormida
Monastero Bormida is really just a small town in Asti province you quickly pass through. Beyond it, the road gently winds its way through green hill country. Our destination lies embedded in a vineyard, on a hilltop – the intimate boutique hotel, Villa La Madonna. It is a true gem of luxurious Boho chic, its style influenced by Nordic and Italian elements, and designed by the two sisters who own it, Marie and Annica Eklund, who head the renowned Swedish design company Bolon. The rooms are airy, featuring a wealth of lovely details along with choice fabrics and rugs by Bolon. Virtually all lights, end tables, mirrors and vases you will see here were sourced at local flea markets. No doubt, the two sisters put a premium on detail. The comfy beds are made by the Swedish manufactury of Hästens, and a fine breakfast is served in the conservatory with its scenic view. On sunny days, the large pool set right into the vineyard will tempt you, whereas the cosy parlours and the photo art by Annica – magnificent black-&-white prints showing portraits, landscapes and arranged snapshots that tell stories of things that did or could have happened – are perfect for chillier days.
