Villa TreVille Hotel, Positano
Villa TreVille used to be the residence of Italy's celebrated opera and film director Franco Zeffirelli. He became internationally known with his lavish opera productions, his film adaptations of Shakespeare plays and his “Jesus of Nazareth” miniseries. Among the villa’s glamorous guests who came and went were Maria Callas, Liz Taylor, Laurence Olivier and Leonard Bernstein. Today, celebrities and jet setters lounge in the sun and sip cocktails on the terrace of the “Bianca Bar”. The interior decoration in the salons and suites still reflects the extravagant taste of the previous owner. Moroccan sofas and lamps are paired with Syrian mother-of-pearl furniture and the artisanal craftsmanship of southern Italy. Walls are adorned with the works of local artists. If it is your first visit, this place will simply not stop amazing you. The view across the Bay of Positano is spectacular, and you will feel like a bird halfway between the heavens and the sea in the hotel’s fragrant terraced garden complex.
