Location

Absolutely quiet on a 15-hectare garden on the edge of the village Bonnieux. Located at some altitude on the north slope of the Luberon, the hamlet embodies the charm of the Provence.

Ambience

A Provençal farmhouse set inside a sprawling garden estate populated by lavender bushed, olive and cherry trees. Indoors, you will find the interior and the plainly-beautiful rooms decorated consistently in the French country-cottage style.

Infrastructure

Heated pool, living room with fireplace, and breakfast room.

Culinary

A small breakfast buffet composed of regional products. There is no restaurant in the building, which is not a drawback, though, because the 2-star restaurant La Bastide de Capelongue lies right across the street from the Maison Valvert.

This B&B offers 4 tastefully decorated rooms in the French country-cottage style in a former farmhouse and a tree house with plenty of privacy.

Service

Cordial, personal, easygoing, but not always on hand, the way it would be in a luxury hotel.

In the enchanting countryside of the Luberon region, quaint mountain hamlets – Gordes, Ménerbes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, and Lourmarin – line the road like pearls on a string. The streets here are lined by old-growth trees. The light is as radiant as in a painting by Vincent van Gogh, and the stone houses glow in bright ochre hues. This is the Provence they way you always imagined it would be. A special place dedicated to good taste is the Maison Valvert Bed & Breakfast run by Cathy Herssens from Belgium. With a spot-on sense of style, she turned a modest 18th-century farmhouse into a charming gem. It is particularly well suited for couples in love and romantics.

Top Flop

Sleeping at a higher elevation! Nothing will get between you and a good night's sleep four metres above ground in the tree house. Be careful lest you turn into a marmot.

If you wish to stay in the tree house, be sure to make reservation well ahead of time, because there is only one of them.
