Domaine de Fontenille Hotel, Lauris

It is often the small things that make a difference: love of detail, a personal style, or an extra touch of kindness. You can tell how fond Frédéric Biousse and Guillaume Foucher are of their own hotel and winery in the Pétit Lubéron region (the small one of the three Lubéron mountains). Snug inside the ancient walls of the manor, which was built in 1648, you will find a sophisticated interior, decorated with a sure sense of style. The former CEO of the fashion empire of SMCP and gallery owner Guillaume Foucher decided to turn their backs on the fast-paced life in Paris and to create a stylish retreat dedicated to tranquillity and art close to Lourmarin, which they did, opening their sanctuary to the public as hotel in 2015. Nothing disturbs peace and quiet here except the splashing of the fountain and the chirping of crickets. Inside, you can feast your eyes on countless paintings and objects d’art, collected with an impeccable sense of style by Guillaume Foucher. It is a dream of a Provençal manor house full of charm, character and contemporary lifestyle, the perfect haunt for romantics, bohemians and lovers of fine wines.
Price range
A picture-perfect piece of Provence: a manicured park with a century-old stock of trees, 250 cypresses, about 1,200 rose bushes, a historic fountain stocked with goldfish, and a proprietary vineyard. The spectacular view alone is worth a trip.
The spa is quite tiny – consisting of a treatment room and a steam room.
