Keep calm and think of Ibiza

Ibiza is a favourite travel destination not only for merrymakers who fly in just to see the sun rise twice over the club rooftop deck but also for bohemians who love doing their yoga exercises on the beach and are glad to have left their high heels back home. It is a wonderful experience to explore the island's beauty with sand between your toes.

10 Tips for a Smashing Holiday:

Tip no. 1: Chugging from Cove to Cove in a Classic 2CV

The Citroen 2CV is a classic cult car and complements Ibiza like no other vehicle. At Ducks United, you can hire a brightly coloured, fully restored 2CV – colour choices including pink, turquoise, flower power or white – and you'll be sure to fancy one of them.

Tip no. 2: Can Xuxu – the Perfect Temporary Home

If you need your private sphere and privileged seclusion for some daydreaming, Can Xuxu is just the place for you. The view from the day bed across the subtropical garden and the sea into the distance is magnificent. Swiss fashion designer Alexandre Narakas' finca is a terrific place for spending the whole day by the pool taking it easy.

Tip no. 3: Cas Gasi – for Nature Aficionados and Yogis

There is no better way to start the day at the Cas Gasi than by doing your yoga on the deck. The sky seems close enough to touch here, with plenty of space and air for breathing deeply – the perfect place to get your strength back. Six times a week at 8:30 am, Marie Laure teaches a complimentary yoga class.

Tip no. 4: Es Cucons – Boho Chic in Every Nook and Cranny

From the terrace you can see sheep at pasture. In the morning, you'll hear a cock crow in the distance. The sisters Barbara and Maria from Barcelona turned this former farmstead into a fine little country hotel. The rooms have been tastefully decorated with vintage and new boho-chic furniture. Es Cucons is a place full of character, charm and contemporary joie-de-vivre for romantics.

Tip no. 5: For Your Wellbeing – Passion Café

Feel like starting the day on a healthy note? Take a sumptuous organic breakfast or just a fresh-squeezed detox juice – we love the Passion Cafés. Out of the four branches, we liked the interior and atmosphere at the Passion Marina best – located right across from the new yacht harbour.

Tip no. 6: El Chiringuito – Daybed with a View of Formentera

The El Chiringuito Beach Club is an institution on Ibiza, famous for its music events as well as for its great cuisine.

Tip no. 7: Beachouse – the Up-and-Coming Star

The latest hotspot along the Playa d'en Bossa – the longest and loudest beach on Ibiza – and very much the talk of the town: Beachouse. You will say “It figures” when learning that the driving force behind it consists of Jonathon Thorogood and Olivia Fleury, the operators of the legendary El Chiringuito.

Tip no. 8: Es Torrent – Your Feet in the Sand and the Day's Catch on the Plate before You

A lovely and authentic place serving an exquisite seafood cuisine. At the Es Torrent, the staff will ask what you would like to eat when you book your table. If you fancy “Lubina a la Sal” – sea bass in a salt crust – or fresh catch according to your taste, it would be best to reserve one of the coveted spots in the oven. If you cannot make up your mind, ask for a place “a la plancha” as there is plenty of space on the barbecue, leaving ample margin for spontaneous decisions.

Tip no. 9: La Paloma – Viva Azzuro!

Everybody seems to congregate at the La Paloma: locals, mansion owners who moved here permanently, and sun worshippers on a visit. This is unsurprising insofar as the Italian-Israeli owners turned an inconspicuous white finca into a heavenly azure-blue place with a great love of detail. The atmosphere is pleasantly upbeat. A trendy place for playing the voyeur and eating well at the same time. This is Ibiza as we know and like it.

Tip no. 10: Can Domingo – Ambitious Italian Cuisine

The best time to be at the Can Domingo is on mellow summer nights, sitting under the fig tree festooned with little lamps. Be sure not to miss the tender-as-butter suckling pig, braised for 12 hours.
