If you have had your fill of cheese fondue, capuns, pizokels and all the rest of it, what about some lighter fare for a change: fish and shellfish. The Engadine restaurant "Murtaröl" in Plaun da Lej is a renowned landmark for classic and exotic seafood. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, you'll discover the restaurant's true soul inside behind its kitchen: 10 large fish tanks in which host Antonio Walther hides his delicacies which are delivered from Milan, including fresh sea fish, king prawns, oysters, crawfish and lobsters of all sizes. Only creatures that have reached the restaurant alive will end up in its pots and pans. The perfect place for traditionalists and fish enthusiasts who fancy a stylish atmosphere minus stiff mannerism. Open 365 days a year.

    Classic seafood true to the motto: "The largest choice of seafood in the Alps." The smoked salmon is prepared in the restaurant's own smokehouse. Our favourites: Plate of smoked fish with salmon, swordfish and tuna or dorade carpaccio as a starter, followed by bass in a salt crust.

    The well-appointed wine menu lists a large selection of white wines, and is marked by a great value-for-money ratio.

    The Italian staff are attentive, charming and efficient.
