Weissenhaus Grand Village Resort & Spa am Meer Hotel, Wangels

Some places are too beautiful to describe in words; Weissenhaus is one of them. To understand the full beauty of this place you have to sleep in the castle, breathe in the salty air of the Baltic Sea in the morning and then walk to the beach through the 75 hectare park with its centuries-old trees. In addition to the 16 rooms in the pristine white, neo-baroque manor house, there are a further 39 rooms and suites dispersed over the castle estate. These include both modern and historical buildings, such as the dairy farm, bakehouse, orangery, gardener's house, wheelwright's house, gatehouse and bath house. Particularly idyllic is the former bee house with its thatched roof, which has been converted into a private spa. Let your tensions melt away here, it's simply a heavenly experience. The luxurious lounges and rooms are classically elegant. The resort features four restaurants, from the boathouse on the beach and the sushi bar in the vaulted cellar, to the two-star Courtier restaurant in the grand castle and the estate's own breakfast restaurant. Breakfast is served in the cavalier house overlooking the castle pond, providing guests with a blissful start to their day. How should the day continue? Well, that's entirely up to you. Perhaps a stroll on the beach, curl up with a book in your own hooded beach chair or just relax in the 2,000 m² castle spa. As anyone who has been here would tell you, a visit is certainly worthwhile.
Price range €€€
The tranquillity and privacy of the place are hard to beat. Ideal for those who love unspoilt nature, being surrounded by wildlife like deer and rabbits and enjoy plenty of space.
The Baltic Sea also has its occasional rainy day. The rooms and suites in the neighbouring buildings have no underground connection to the castle spa and the main building.
